Princeton vs. Brown, Friday the 13th, ESPN-U

the nation's leading sports network will be in town friday to televise princeton football's first home game of the year, against defending ivy champion brown. princeton enters the game 4-0, ranked #22/24 in division I-AA, and an ivy best #107 in the sagarin rankings of all division I programs (A and AA).

"PRINCETON, N.J. – Jeff Terrell threw two second-half touchdown passes and Princeton held Brown's explosive offense to just 157 total yards as the Tigers posted a 17-3 victory on Friday night."

Surprising the attendance wasn't higher for the first Ivy night game ever, and with the team undefeated.

And note that the rankings seem to have shuffled a little, with Princeton's ranking no longer the "Ivy best." It is amusing to see, in any event, that the amateur squads from HYP all outrank the semi-professional teams wearing the school colors at Stanford and Duke.

Two biggies:
1) Parents weekend...most people were out either around Princeton or maybe even NYC with parents.
2) It was freakin' COLD.

thanks, byerly. we can always count on you for the negative spin. although when it centers on something like attendance, you're really reaching.

Nothing negative ... I understand the weather was cold. But I was curious as to whether the first Ivy experiment with Friday night football would heighten fan interest.

The thought was that a Friday night game would attract the soccer families in the community who are busy with their children on Saturday. Guess it didn't pan out. This is a surprise to noone but the Department of Athletics.

This year's Friday night game drew 10,136. The past two times Brown played at Princeton the games drew 11.982 and 11,067 in attendance, so the Friday experiment does not seem to have been a big success.

the game....
