Princeton's School of Music/Performing Arts/Voice

A newbie parent to CC, I would like to hear about students with a strong interest, passion, and ability in voice/ the performing arts, getting accepted to Princeton.

Do you think the specific talent/ability was considered very important to getting in? According to CollegeData, talent/ability, and personality/character are very important for admissions to Princeton? I do know they take a holistic approach when reviewing apps.

What are your experiences in this area? Thanks:)

Hi! I love singing, and I listed an outside-of-school singing activity as the second extracurricular on the Common App. I didn’t send anything in, though, so I don’t know how much talent factored in.

Hello - My daughter is class of '10, mechanical and aerospace engineering major, but passionate about music. She is getting a certificate in music and her arts supplement DEFINITELY played a major role in her acceptance. We did not find out until after she arrived in the fall when the Glee Club director contacted her to tell her that he had noticed she had not signed up to audition for glee club and he had personally listened to her CD and sent a strong letter of recommendation to the admissions office. And here we thought it was because she was a female engineering applicant. Princeton has been a great place for her to explore the arts as well as pursue her engineering degree. Hope that helps.
