Parent of an incoming freshman here. The shopping list put out by Emory includes "printer".

Does one need a printer, or are there stations in Emory where students can't print out stuff? Thanks.

Don’t get a printer. You’ll have a terrible time connecting it to wifi, buying ink is expensive, random things break down, etc.

Many places print for free. At the library, printing costs 8 cents a page.

I wouldn’t recommend buying a printer unless your son/daughter plans to print a literal ton of pages. It might be a minor convenience if you have a spare that you’ll be driving over (my roommate did that), but most people do perfectly well with the printing services at the library and a few other locations.

Thank you both. Very helpful.
