Printers

Does it cost to print at cal poly??

seriously … did you not visit the school or go to SOAR?

why do you think printing would be free anywhere?

nope i didnt go 2 soar. so how much does it cost.

It’s 10 cents/page to print. Some majors have computer labs where you can print stuff for free, they may have limits on how many though.

do u no if computer science majors can print 4 free?

The only one I know of is biology. I would call the computer science dept (805-756-2824) and check with them.

Nolists, plenty of colleges offer free printing for a per quarterly or per semesterly quota. I believe that Cal Poly offers 10 free prints per semester at the various computer labs on campus, with every additional print being $0.10 per page. Investing in your own personal printer could make economic sense (inkjets start at around $45 or mono laserjets at around $75), however, you will be limited to making prints in only your room.

Specific computer labs may have more free prints available depending on major, class participation, etc. Like kristeeroxx mentioned, calling the department will be the easiest way to figure out what they have to offer.

alright thanks kristeeroxx and joewhiz.

CSC printing is free up to a certain number of pages…

You can get printers n’ stuff used from Craigslist, ASI Classifieds ([ASI](http://www.asi.calpoly.edu/classifieds)) and Cal Poly’s surplus ([Public Surplus: Surplus Auctions for Cal Poly SLO](Public Surplus: Surplus Auctions for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (CSU))) for not much money.

I concur with “joewhiz”. Get your own printer. Just got my son a cheap b/w laser printer that prints for 3cents/page as opposed to 10cents/page for inkjet, and the cartridges last for 2000 prints.

Agree with the need for your own printer but recommend an AIO that does copying and scanning as well as printing. We chose the [Epson Stylus NX515 All-in-One Printer Review](http://printscan.about.com/od/allinoneprinters/gr/epsonnx515.htm) and my son shares it wirelessly with his roommate.
