Private Catholic School VS Public School

Hi everyone!

So i have heard some people talk about how Swarthmore doesn’t like to accept people from Catholic schools, and tend to offer admission more to applicants who come from public and non religious affiliated high schools. That being said, is it even worth it to consider Swarthmore if I’m coming from a private catholic all girls school in suburban PA?

If that is true is Swarthmore the type of school you want to attend? Sounds pretty discriminatory and intolerant.

A prime example as to why you should not believe everything you hear, particularly if it did not come from a Swarthmore AO, which I will wager my salary they did not say.

I’m pretty sure this is not true at all. I come from a private catholic institution and I was just accepted at Swat in December.

@djschumacher, I am sure what you have heard is not correct.

I think it should not be a problem because I identified myself as an atheist in Common App

A Newman Center is described on the college webpage. Off the top of my head , I know of students from three Catholic schools.

The recent RD admissions results show 11% of accepted applicants are from parochial schools.
