I think i am a qualified RD applicant... GPA: 4.0 UW, SAT: 2360, Long term research that won at regional and state competed internationally, very involved with visual arts, sending in my portfolio, lots of leadership in community... etc.

So I was thinking...Swarthmore was originally a quaker school right? and now they maintain a lot of Quaker ideals. This really attracts me to Swarthmore. But will being Quaker attract Swarthmore to me? Especially if I've been involved with the Quaker community and send a reccomendation from a swarthmore allumnus who goes to my meeting?

From my understanding, being an active Quaker is at most a "tip" factor in Swarthmore admissions, and probably less of a "tip" factor than being a "legacy." Again, from my understanding, being a Quaker has a bit more of a positive impact on admissions at Haverford. Although both schools check the box "Not Considered" on the Religious Affiliation line on what is important in admissions in their Common Data Set.

thankyou for the input! and i'm not neccessarily stressing.. I'm just working on my why swarthmore essay, and got curious. I know that at swarthmore, good statistics do not garuntee admission, so it would be cool if my background gave me a little boost!

Does anyone else know any specifics in this issue

I think they ask you the name of your meeting on the application. Am I mis-remembering this?
A person in my children's school was waitlisted and then accepted. The gossip was that it helped that he was a birth-right quaker.
