So I saw this on another page and thought it was really interesting.

I was wondering if some of the current students would mind chipping in and making a list of what they feel are the pro's and con's of the school, ranging anywhere from academics, to social life, to job opportunities, whatever.

Thanks! =D

Pros - too many to list

A few Cons:
-Cornell feels the need to charge you for everything. A lot. Take free stuff when you can, because it’s few and far between
-It is cold here. Even if you’re from somewhere north, it feels more pronounced here, because you have to walk all the way to class everyday.
-There are a lot of different types of people here. This is both a good and a bad thing. The bad part is, you’ll meet some people that you won’t get along with. However, I suppose that’ll happen anywhere.

Cons: The four hour LE2400 final I took Tuesday night (not the norm btw, exams are only scheduled for 2.5 hrs, everyone was in disbelief when I told them about it…lol).
-The heart attack I am about to have.

Pros: I can’t think of many right now because my stress level is through the roof and I am about to collapse, but other than finals and the winter weather, this place is a blast.

^^ HAHAHA yeah I normally like my high school but in the 4 weeks which incorporate AP’s and Final’s its normally not on most people’s good side either.

a lot of people have mentioned how they charge you for everything. can you give some of the ridiculous examples?

Laundry, printing (though ILR and some departments give free printing), over-priced food.

Any piece of furniture that is missing from the dorm gets you threatening e-mails about charging ridiculous amounts to replace it.

Here’s a real e-mail:

Dear *** residents,

On April 26th,2009, the Facilities Manager and myself noticed that a black arm chair is missing from the *** TV lounge. Removal of this furniture from it’s space is contrary to our community’s needs.

If the person(s) responsible are not identified by May 11th, 2009, the replacement cost will be handled through Common Area Damage procedures, consistent with your Housing Terms and Conditions. This means that the amount to replace the furniture is $1100.00, and will be divided among the residents of *** and placed on their bursar bills.
