Problem Transferring to new school (Homeschooled)

Okay this may be lengthy but I really need help. I recently spent my freshman year at New England College in New Hampshire. The reason that i’m transferring is mostly because of the cost and distance from my house. Also, they expected for use to stay in dorms that haven’t probably seen a upgrade in 25 years but pay close to $8,000 for them.

The school that I want to transfer to is Lincoln University in Jefferson City. Missouri, which I chose because I get in-state tuition with the small school experience. This is where the problem starts, I called the admissions office at the school to find out what was left after they receive my transcripts. The response that I got was a bit of a shock since I earned a full 30 credits. The admissions counselor who answered the phone stated that they needed My ACT scores (which I didn’t take because NEC didn’t require them), My high school transcript (Which has to be notarized since I was homeschooled), and the aforementioned college transcripts. I told the admissions counselor that I had 30 credits that were not remedial at all since NEC only offers remedial math (I didn’t take my math requirement yet as I was holding off for this coming year). She basically disregarded what I said and requested all this information be sent even though I’m obviously a transfer applicant.

I guess the questions I have are:
Is this normal for home school transfers to be asked for extra information even after earning a significant amount of credits?
Are there any other state schools in Missouri that handle Homeschooled transfer applicants better (within roughly 200 Miles of Saint Louis)?
How do Liberal Arts credits generally transfer?

Again, i’m sorry for the extra long post but I wanted to provide as mush information as possible.

Everyone transferring sends in their HS records. Occasionally people won’t be required to send in SAT/ACT, but that tends to be for non-traditional (older) students coming from CCs. I just transferred from a top LAC and even though I had done 2 years there, I still had to send in my HS transcript/ SATs/SAT IIs/APs. You can take the ACT or SAT now (you don’t have to be in high school) and might want to look into the GED if your homeschooling can’t be notarized.

Getting the homeschool transcript notarized isn’t a big issue just unexpected. Especially when most Missouri state school state that you don’t need to send them in after obtaining between 24 - 30 credits (depending on the school). It seemed like I was getting extra requirements just because I was homeschool, maybe its because NEC kept the admissions process very simple ( Just my homeschool transcript and a essay ) that I felt that way. But i won’t know for sure until my official college transcript gets evaluated.

Most places will require high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores if you are transferring after only one year of college. That kind of information usually is right on the university website. Even if it wasn’t, this is something that a transfer applicant should double-check by emailing the admissions office.

Try to appeal for an exception in person in writing. If that fails, move on…
