<p>I sent in my MIT app, and I noticed that when I uploaded the document, all my quotation marks disappeared, making my dialogue look extremely stupid. What do I do? I am going to call admissions on Jan. 2, but can I send in my essay by mail?</p>
<p>It might have been because on Microsoft Word, the quotes sometimes turn into "smart quotes" which get lost when you upload it onto a school's application</p>
<p>As for what to do... I have no clue</p>
<p>MIT says on their website something to the effect of "we understand that small formatting losses occur, don't worry about it. If formatting is <em>essential</em> to your essay, feel free to mail in a hard copy."</p>
