Problems choosing college

I’m 16, in 12th grade, have a 2.9 gpa (sad to say), 1190 SAT score (new SAT so out of 1600). I live in Michigan.
I’m not 100% sure when it comes to career choice, I picked majors I would seem to be into, though. I’m going to apply to Michigan State University (Media and Information Major), University of Oregon (Art and Technology Major), Washington State University (Digital Technology and Culture) and Penn State (unsure of major) because they seem like good colleges, not sure if I’ll get in or not but yeah. Do you guys think those are good choices of colleges? Any other choices?
Also, do you think I should stay in Michigan or not? I don’t dislike Michigan (well. I’ve grown a little tired of it that’s all). I’ve been here for 16 years and never went past Ohio in terms of traveling and wanna explore a different place I guess. But it would be cheaper to stay. Not sure- it’s really frustrating. Any tips? (I’m new here so sorry if this is the wrong section)

You have to ask your parents if going out of state is affordable.
If not, Michigan State seems like a good match.

You are 16. You don’t need to have a career sorted out for years to come, or a major for that matter. I am unclear, but have you applied for colleges for next fall? You are really young. If you want to travel and explore, can I suggest you get accepted and defer for a year? Take a gap year and experience life for a bit.

I am not sure how those colleges listed match your stats, but I think your GPA is on the low side for the colleges you listed. I just did a quick search and found a list of colleges for students in your GPA range. There are colleges for you, but it might be good for you to try community college for a couple of years and transfer to a university. The pace isn’t as intense as four year college and it will give you a chance to improve your grades and get used to the level of work required in college. Good luck.

I graduate at 17… that’s rly not that young, most go to college at 18
I do know that the colleges I’m applying for is a bit of a reach, but they do look at improvement, and I’ve went from D’s and C’s to all A’s and A+'s in 11th and 12th grade, so hopefully that’s good. Don’t mind the challenge of going to 4 year college straight away

Thanks though
