Is it worth it? I think yes for some of these complicated situations. The posters on this forum are very knowledgeable, but we can never get all the data we need to be sure we are giving totally accurate advice.

I used a site you pay for for our daughters fafsa, as we have our own business and its complicated. First year we did fafsa on our own and it kept getting sent back or whatever with questions. Year two I paid 45bucks to a site and it was a breeze. They double checked, they noticed when things didn't add up, they sent reminders, etc. Five years later and much fin aid, grants and pretty smooth sailing re fafsa. Well worth the relatively small fee, when coated to an 15000grant.

So for those with very specific odd issues, it may be worth going to a pro. I know the fafsa is better now, but it is still difficult for those that have complicated financial situations, including disability, trusts, divorced, separations, just got married, etc.

We pay for accountants, manicures, people to fix our cars, paying for fafsa help seems logical
