Professor messed up on blackboard with my grade?

So I received an 84.5/94 on my exam. Not bad at all, but my professor put in a 94.5/94 on blackboard. My question is, is it possible the professor will notice when she calculates the final grade? Will she be able to find out because the grade is over 100?

The thing is, she handed back the actual exam and the scantron. So if I go to her and tell her the grade is wrong, I don’t think she will have any way to verify the grade. So do I just let it go and take the extra points?

If it were me, I would tell the prof. Something similar did happen to me - the prof didn’t add up points correctly on an exam and gave me an A instead of a B. It was a class where I was on the border between a final grade of B and A, but I just couldn’t bring myself to not tell him! So I did. I ended up with an A- in the class.

And yes, I think she would figure out eventually, anyway. You will look good by telling her now.

The honesty points you get from the prof (and the karma points you get from life) will more than compensate for the loss of the 10 misassigned points.

And seriously, who writes a test that totals to 94 points?

She’ll figure out the mistake eventually and you will look like an honorable person if you point it out.

The real question is not whether the professor will notice.

It’s what you’ll do, now that you’ve noticed.

It’s about your level of personal integrity, not about a professor’s ability to spot an error.

Honesty is always the best policy.

I tell her. You want to earn your A.

Lol, I @stradmom, I have teacher that has homework assignments each worth 16.67 points. Some teachers can have odd scoring systems.

Definitely tell the professor. If she had messed up the grade in the other direction (i.e. accidentally put 74.5), you would go talk to her. Having a leg up on your grade is nice but having your prof trust you is better, especially since she will then trust you if she DOES mess up your grade in the other direction at some point.

Hey, maybe she’ll give you free points for honesty! Like giving back someone their wallet, they might reward you.

The high road is always the right road
