I'm aware that CMU no longer has a dance component in its MT audition, and that it's very rare. Are there any other schools, specifically those with a respected and established program, that don't require a dance component to the audition?

None of the 12 we looked into last year. Dance is weighted differently in the audition depending on the school and I would imagine what they are looking for but CMU is the only one I know of that omits it completely.

Ithaca added a dance requirement to their prescreen, but for 2014 there was just a “movement” portion of the actual audition.

Otterbein’s Unified auditions did not have a dance call this year, but I read of a least one CC kid being asked to dance because it was on her resume. There was a dance call for Otterbein’s on-campus audition as MTMajorCook and S may attest (her son is a fabulous dancer)

Is dance a strength? Check out the Audition reports from this year and you may get a feel for the level of difficulty of the dance calls.
