Proof of Citizenship for financial Aid?

What kind of document are they looking for? A passport?

Assuming you are a US Citizen, a copy of your passport or an official copy of your birth certificate showing you were born in the USA should suffice.

Ask the school, if the school is asking for proof., they will have a list of suitable documents.

never mind, I think its just a photo upload

If you were born in the USA, you can send a copy of your birth certificate. If you were not (and are being questioned because you SSN is not being confirmed as being a citizen) the financial aid office will need to see the ORIGINAL of a passport or a certificate of citizenship/naturalization. They may keep the financial aid process rolling if you send them a copy, but they need to see the original before they can release aid. Never send the original!

You should also make sure your SSN has you listed as ‘citizen’ if your status has changed since the original card was issued. If you had an issue with the FSA ID when you were filing the FAFSA, your status might be incorrect.

Before my daughter could start her on campus job at Rice, she had to show the payroll office her passport and her social security card.
