<p>The creation of a History Olympiad that would test high schoolers knowledge of world history. It would have three phases:</p>
<p>Initial Testing Exams- at the regional level
Semifinal Selection- selecting the top 20 in all of the nation
Finalist Selection- Selecting a traveling team of the top 5 in the nation</p>
<p>I'm currently at a private school in NY, and I think this would be a great way for history to be progressed.</p>

<p>I totally would have done it. I might even do it more like Science Olympiad rather than Chem/Phys/Bio Olympiad. With teams and events and whatnot. You’d have an event, let’s say “Wars” and then the theme of that event would change from year to year. One year “WWI,” the next year “the Punic Wars,” and so on. You’d have other events too, “Art” and “Classical Civilization” and “Revolution” and stuff. They could be multiple choice or essay, at the coordinator’s discretion. And the equivalent of SO building events would be research papers prepared in advance.</p>

<p>^^ well if you stray away from facts, then you might cross the border of subjectivity which would be much harder to take into account.</p>

but why would you want to answer questions about names and dates and treaties?
