<p>I don't know if I put the question on the right category but since I'm going to a CSU, hope anyone could answer.</p>
<p>Sadly, my score from EPT is 144/180 and 32/80 from ELM. I'm really upset but, oh well. I can't do anything. </p>
<p>Can anyone tell me what's the pros and cons of taking these classes? I live in San Fernando Valley and I will be entering CSU Chico-which is an 8 hour drive from home - and the grant I have is only guaranteed for 4 years. I think remedial classes is just a waste of money time but what can I do? :(</p>

apparently you may be okay for your EPT score since you squeaked by with a 144/180.
The cutoff is 138/180.
However, your ELM score is way below the cutoff and you need to take the online course to satisfy the remedial course requirement.
Remedial courses are to your benefit, to prepare you for college level work.
And you can do it online.
You must take care of this matter in the summer or you will be behind, jeopardizing getting your degree in 4 years.
Good luck!</p>
<p>Oh really? I didn’t know that they have online classes for it? So, is it possible to take my degree courses and taking the remedial classes online at the same time?</p>
<p>Oh, you meant to take online classes before my freshman year. After I take the online classes, would I be able to start my general education when I enter Chico State?</p>
<p>marlon-
You need to carefully read the Early Star link, especially the information pertaining to your EPT and ELM scores.
You will register to take the online remedial course starting May 8th and by the June 17 deadline.
You may be eligible for a waived fee.
You will take the 3 unit online remedial math review course(it takes 45 plus hours of work and study time on your part to complete) starting June 24 and when you have completed the work and reviewed /understood the math concepts you take an online proctored final.
If you pass, you may then enroll in College Algebra, which is the lowest math available at Chico.
It is important you read and check the Chico website often(daily) to get information about things like this, orientation, deadlines.
If you do not understand call someone at Chico State who will answer your questions.
Double check with someone at Chico about what you need to do about your EPT and ELM scores instead of using CC.
No one will hold your hand and walk you through college.
Take initiative.</p>
<p>Beerme: thank you for your response. I truly appreciate it :)</p>
<p>I went to Choose Chico event and have all my questions answered. So I took your advice on starting an EAP this Summer for my math remedial class only (since I pass the EPT Test: they said the cutting score is 138, not 150. I scored 144 so I’m good) so when I enter my freshmen year, I’m good to go for my college course :)</p>
