Hello CC I have a simply question that ui hope you can answer for me. I will be starting college spring 2010 at a four year state university. The only reason I could not start now is because my financial aid was not verified for this the fall semester so I was force to go spring since I did have the money to pay out of pocket. My only question is what the pros and cons of going spring semester and will I have to attend summer semester to catch up for the next school year. Any advice you can give me will help thanks

Theoretically, you should end college at a time when fewer people out of college are looking for jobs, meaning less competition. I don’t know that it actually happens like that though. Just an idea.

Some classes must be taken in sequence; thus, are only offered in the spring or fall. For instance, at my school biology I & II are only offered in the spring or fall, respectively. Other than that, I guess it would just be different and harder taking intro classes, e.g. chemistry I and anatomy I, in the spring while most others take them in the fall (it would be harder to find study partners), then having summer break (three month gap) before taking chemistry II and anatomy II, if you don’t decide to take them in the summer. But you said you will be taking classes over the summer to catch up for the next school year, so after that you should be back on track and your classes should be arranged smoothly from there.

Most intro classes are actually offered in both semesters. It’s when you get into the more advanced classes (with lower enrollment) that they only offer them in certain semesters.

You miss out on the freshman experience, whatever that is.
