When we signed DS up for the SAT, we filled in the names of 4 schools on his "list" to have the scores sent to for free. Is this dumb and should we take all of the names off the list? Do people "in the know" wait until they see the score and like it, THEN have them sent?

The downside, missypie, is that if he wants to take the tests again because he doesn't like the scores, or if he needs to add SAT IIs to it, he'll have to send them again. Or if he decides to take the ACT instead, he may not want to send the SAT's at all, but these schools will already have them.

On the other hand, if he's happy with his scores and he doesn't need SAT II's, he'll have sent the scores for free.

Maybe we should just have the scores sent to the safeties. We have until Dec. 10th to make changes, and the scores come out two weeks later.

It seems silly to throw away free score reports. I always ask my son where he'd like his scores reported, every time he takes a test. He'll eventually have to send up-to-date reports to all the colleges he actually applies to, but meanwhile it doesn't hurt at all to report Talent Search SAT I or ACT scores, or scores from SAT II tests he takes "early," before he fills out college applications.
