can anyone elaborate?
Can someone explain the difference between Carlisle and Gettysburg and Lancaster. I visited Easton and absolutely hated the town.
@Lana22 Weāve been to Carlisle 3 times, Gettysburg once and Lancaster a couple of times. Carlisle is a working, blue collar town. I would say the area around campus is safe, there are a quite a few restaurants (nothing really fancy) and shops to walk around and enjoy. Lancaster is a nice area, everything is a bit more spread out than Carlisle and Gettysburg and probably isnāt all walkable like the other 2. There are probably some nicer restaurants and shops in Lancaster than the other 2. Thereās a āGallery Rowā on one block, so thereās that kind of thing too. Lancaster is probably the largest of the 3. Thereās a minor league baseball stadium downtown. Gettysburg is a big tourist town in the summer, so itās got lots of restaurants and shops as well. I recall there was a fairly long block to walk up and down where all the retail was. The area right around campus is residential and then you have a few blocks to walk to get into the tourist section.
We visited Easton too. What didnāt you like about it? I donāt think itās too different from what youād see in Carlisle or Gettysburg other than the fact that itās a decent walk down the hill from Lafayette to get down to Easton.
Probably not overfly helpful, but if you have any specifics you want to know, let me know.
Easton definitely felt much more unsafe than Gettysburg and Lancaster and Carlisle, I think it was just a rougher city vibe.
Thanks, your experiences are helpful!
I think the center of Carlisle, where the college is, is lovely, charming and walkable. There seem to be a lot of good restaurants and shops. I am sure it gets tiresome after a while, but Harrisburg and the train arenāt far away. Lancaster is really sprawling and has every big box store imaginable. It felt very suburban. Getty burg is also cute. I donāt know about Easton at all.
