Prospective out of state student here. How important is the interview?

I’m from Tennessee and will not be able to interview with the school. Will that destroy my chances?

Even as far Memphis or Chattanooga it’s only a nine to ten hour drive. Make the trip.

You should tour the school (and this goes for any school, I say) before you commit, anyway.

I don’t think you will get admitted without an interview. You need to make the trip.

  1. Yes, you must interview. My son’s acceptance letter gave his exceptional interview as one of the main reasons for his acceptance.
  2. No, you don’t have to travel to Hillsdale to interview IF you can participate in a regional interview, which is what we did here in So Cal. Hillsdale sends out admissions counselors to interview prospective students in many other states. Check it out! Call them and ask. Regional interview schedules also should (eventually) be posted on their website.
