Hi Guys
I’m looking to apply to Dartmouth. I went to top public university in California, and I decided to take some time off and think about my future better. I will be 23 and I was wondering what it is like. Would it be weird? Are there a lot of mid 20 year olds in clubs, frats, classes, bars etc? I am social person so if I’m going to be at a school like Dartmouth, I want to feel connected with my peers rather than playing that old dude. Also for those who got in, did you apply to many Ivy Leagues? Or did you just choose Dartmouth? I’m wondering if it will hurt my chances if I apply to more than one IVY league. Also how is the Finacial Aid there?
23 isn’t old. And saying hi from Reddit
I’m trying to think back from my own experience, and I know there were a couple of older folks in classes who had taken time off or came back from military, but that was more low-mid 30’s.
I don’t think a 24 year old vs a 22 year old would really stick out. I think the most annoying part would be people asking you which grad school you were attending, Thayer or Tuck. The older-than-college folks I knew that still hung out at my fraternity were recent Dartmouth grads, now attending Thayer or working at DHMC, but still active on campus. I can’t speak personally to that question being constantly asked enough that it would affect you or not.
To the other pieces, multiple applications won’t hurt. Financial Aid is generally very good, with a lot of generous packages being offered, and the ability to request more in your package if you can prove special circumstances
