What are my chances at transferring in?

probably very good. keep your gpa up and I’ll be surprised if you don’t get in.

Thanks for the input! I am hopeful that I can get in, but the only aspect that really worries about the application process is the transfer essay. Any good advice on how to approach writing the “why Carolina” essay prompt?

As a current freshman at NCSU, I’d say that you have a good chance, given that at your point in the game they’ll place more emphasis on your college performance. As long as you didn’t drop the ball in a class like organic chemistry (assuming that you’re on the standard track) I think you’ll get in.

in general, for transfer essays you want to…

 1. try to cast your current school in the best light possible
 2. point out a few specific flaws about the school that are hindering your ability to achieve your goals, whether they be personal, academic, or professional goals
 3. talk about specific things at Carolina that “fix” the issues you discussed in (2)

if you want to talk more specifically, or want me to look over your essay once it’s written, shoot me a PM

I think you have a very good chance. They don’t really consider SAT for junior transfers, so your GPA is much more important.
