Hi,

I am a student at a community college in NC, and I applied for transfer to Chapel Hill as a junior. My HS grades are a bit lackluster (2.8 GPA), but I currently have a 4.0 GPA with 49 transferable credits and will graduate from the comm college with an AA degree (64 transferable credits). I also am a member of a national academic honor society, a mathematics honor society, and I was invited to join a communications-based honor society. I have made the "President's List" (4.0 GPA for a term) all three semesters that I have attended. I don't have a very strong work history, but I have had some life-long problems at home that are the reason for that as well as my low HS GPA (I laid the foundation of my essay around these problems; I guess that will help). I believe that my essay is strong, and I also have a letter of recommendation from a "prestigious" faculty member (He got his undergrad at Duke, masters at George Mason, and is in the process of applying to Chapel Hill for his Doctorate).

The only red flags that I can think of are: I was suspended my senior year for an alcohol infraction, and on the application, I stated, in the awards section, that I had made the "A-B Honor Roll" (I know. I was fishing for awards haha) in 9th, 10th, and 12th grade, but I did not specify that it was for the quarter.

I just wanted an objective view on my chances at transfer; I am stressing a little over it. Haha.

Thanks.
