so i’m a psychology major who’s a freshman in a university. i’m looking to apply to a college in the US (i’m a non-citizen), but i’m not sure which school(s) i should apply to.
i’m looking for a school that:
- is generous with financial aid to international students
- has a drama program i can apply to and double major in psychology
- diverse
i’m really not looking for a lot lol i got accepted into NYU for Drama (Musical theater) for the fall of 2021, but they give 0 financial aid to international transfers, and that’s the only school i applied to for the next year. obviously i ended up not going because it was 80K a year. so i’m trying again for my junior year. if anyone could come up with something like NYU but cheaper that’d be great thanks. i’m not from the US so i don’t know the schools all that well.
How much can you afford to pay each year without taking on any debt?
Why do you want to study in the USA?
What country are you a citizen of?
What are your grades and test scores?
I don’t have a fixed number, I usually just study the numbers once they’re there.
For the drama programs. As much as possible I’d wanna make connections and I don’t really see myself making them anywhere else.

My GPAs are pretty good. They’re bordering on the lower ends of first honors, but in all my uni semesters, I’ve always stayed within the first honor region (lowest 3.5). I get 4.0s a lot in the individual subjects but once in a while a 3.0 will bring it down. By the end of this year, I would’ve completed 56 credits, and I still have my sophomore year to go through so that number will grow for sure.
Pace is significantly less expensive than NYU, Montclair state in NJ has a good drama program and I believe they give merit to international students.
I’m going to be very frank. Financial aid for transfer students is not particularly plentiful. Financial aid for international transfer students is even less.
