Protocols for Prep School Parents threads

I would like to propose a few guidelines for the Prep School Parents discussions, or rather perhaps more a return to previous practices. In brief, the Parents pages were created for and should be used by the parents of current student or applicants. Parents share issues and dilemmas that their children do not. New parents can receive insightful feedback from veterans who have been through the boarding school process a time or two or in the case of those from multigenerational boarding school families, a time or ten. In this, there is an assumption, a default setting, that if one posts on a Parents thread, that poster is a parent. Therefore, those who are not parents should identify themselves - as applicants or current student or whatever they are.

Checking back to threads of past years, this was the custom. I ask that we return to this.

I agree with this approach.

I am not a parent, but I’m on board with this.

Whenever I post on the “Parents” subsection, since I’m a student/kid, I usually begin my posts with “I’m not a parent but…” and I support what @Agincourt is saying.
