Discussion for form Dubya. Remember you cannot discuss any of the questions on the test, at least, not yet...

did anyone notice the huge amounts of “E” answers near the end of the writing section? i think it was like 3 in a row then another 2 in a row.

No. I got about 3 "E"s, I think. Some of the mistakes weren’t too obvious.
I thought the Math Section was a joke.

ya it was like 3. math was really easy. and I was suprised how interesting the CR sections were.

Really… I almost slept reading the first section’s stuff. Section 3 was far easier to understand. Actually I agree, usually it’s really uninteresting.

Math - easy
Writing - easy, tripped me up a little bit here and there
Reading - easy

I messed up on the reading section 1, because I was barely awake and I didn’t understand a thing I was reading. They need to put the Math Section first, so people can get their minds working before they go on to the really boring reading section with a little bit more concentration. Other than that the test was easy.

what was the feline cat one. was it like the habit of feline cats… it was like choice e.

^ that was a hard one… Something about cats clawing trees.

The two Reading passages about the brain/mind were really boring.
Also this question:
If k is a constant such that x-2 and x+2 are factors of the polynomial 100x^2+k, What is the value of k.
A) -400
B) -25
C) -4
D) 25
E) 400

^ I didn’t get this one, can someone clarify?

-400 10char

How do you get it?

expand 100(x+2)(x-2)

multiply (x+2) and (x-2) to get (x^2-4), multiply that by 100 and k is -400

Thanks, I figured that out while waiting for a reply…

what about that vocab one where the choices were either eradicate, sever, or curtail? it seemed like any could work, but I went with curtail

since x-2 and x+2 are factors, you can factor 100x^2 +k. than you just plug in choices for k that would make x^2-4 , and that is 100x^2-400. then you factor, (10X-20)(10X+20), (10(x-2)(x+2))

How about this??

In the XY plane the two point A (-2,-5) and B (3,2) are each reflected about the line Y=X. What is the slope of the line to which A & B are reflected.

curtail 10char.

when points are reflected around y=x that is the inverse, so the new points are (-5,-2) and (2,3), then find the slope of those

slope is rise over run so (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) is (3–2)/(2–5) which is 5/7
