PSAT 2010 Wednesday General Discussion

do u guys remember an area trapezoid question, can u refresh my memory. is it the one with two triangles and a rectangle and u have to find area. i don’t remeber one with a trapezolid under curve.

OH you guys what was the answer to the one with reflecting over the equation y=x? I thought the slope would be the same even if it were reflected over so I put like 7/5 or something

apnOOb and dapotatoman, agreed! Because the TV viewers flip channels and only go back in time for some commercials, whereas the computer people are always annoyed because they can’t get away from the irrelevant pop-ups. Or something like that.

Was the math grid-in with the ysqrt5=5x or whatever it was, choice B? That’s what i picked, i can’t remember if it was 1/5 (the right answer)

Also why does the author repeatedly say “showed?”

Yes, it was 1/5. And the trapezoid one was the find the shaded area, and it gave you a line (y=2x+4) i think and it shaded the area underneath it.

to show Humans place in universe

apnoob , what ? r u talking about. i don’t recall. could u tell me the answer choices or tell me how to solve it

It’s actually the reciprocal of the original slope. The answer was 5/7.

ahhh really? Not just to show the different stuff the human mind can do? crap…
And no my question is, WHICH choice was 1/5? B?

Also, does anyone remember what #17 for the math MC was? I left it blank…

There goes my 80 in math

I didn’t effing read instructions about flipping it!!! SO DUMBBBB!!!

The answer was 21. It had a set of xy-axes and a line graphed on it, with part of it shaded. The easy way to solve it was to divide it into a rectangle in the bottom half and a triangle in the top half. The area of the rectangle was 12, and the area of the triangle was 9.

Do you know if one of the options was the negative reciprocal? If so, I think that’s what I put :(

…so many stupid stupid mistakes…

… what was #17 for math??

I thought that one was a grid-in? If not, I don’t remember the other options. :p

Gah I’m ****ed that I got one math question wrong… especially since that drags me down to like a 77

thnx, apnoob

^^^It wasn’t a grid-in. And there were negative reciprocals as answer choices.

apnoob was the one we were talking about a grid in. if not do u remmeber the other choices. i remember getting 21 for something, but do u remember if it was towards the beginning of a grid in or not

What was the one that you had to find the shaded area of? Not the trapezoid. The one where the non-shaded parts were 2 quarter-circles and 2 curved triangle thingies.

alright guys well i think im an idiot and i feel so dumb, i missed that triple venn diagram one

i put 99 as my answer because i guess i read the problem as, “how many people are in sports, including those who are also in drama” instead of “how many people are in both drama and sports”

so i did 20+21+58 insteand of just 20+21

sorry, im just ranting now… i just hate missing easy ones like that

Also i want to know if anyone else made this same mistake, because that would make me ffeel a little better
