PSAT 2010 Wednesday General Discussion

^^But the consensus is that “to be built” is the error?

I feel like the consensus is [to be built], but there is no consensus on how to fix it :P

Yes. Even if that weren’t the consensus, it should be, because “to be built” is definitely the error.

F***. Yes.

EDIT: Sorry for the quasi-profanity. This should keep me at -1 W (or -0 W, since some people are now questioning the “best known/better known” ID Error question; I put no error for that one.).

^Agreed, that was what I found for the error

It’s safe to assume that the “best known” question had no error.

^Really? I seem pretty convinced by what some people have been saying about that question (that “best known” should be “better known”).

^^Strongly disagree.

To quote from the writing thread:

Yeah, I never actually thought of “better known” as I took the test. But honestly, I think either one would work (though of course, I am biased).

Does anyone remember that question where it was like “Were they have been told, the jury blah blah” or something like that?

That one confused me so much even though I immediately thought it was A at first…

I think “Were they to be told” means the same thing as “If they were told”

So, definitely just made an account to post here…
What was the one for CR comparing internet and TV ads, something like what did the viewers for the TV have that the internet people didn’t? I said they could skip over some ads, or whatever that answer is. Is that right?
Also, what was the consensus on the purpose of the author repeatedly saying “showed?”

And for math, what was the one for how many points of intersection are there between a circle with a radius 2x (?) bigger than another circle?
And was 1/5 for the 2nd to last math grid-in choice B? That’s what I picked…not sure if it was 1/5 or 1/sqrt5 tho. I just know 1/5 is right.

Were they to be told was choice A, which I believe is correct and the general consensus seems to believe as well.

If they would have been told was choice B, which is incorrect since it should be “if they had been told.” If you’re advanced in spanish, this is like the si clauses: If [verb in imperfect subjunctive], then [verb in conditional perfect].

my proctor cut off 7 minutes off our section 1, and she wouldn’t give us that time back…

they’re still warring over the japanese actress one on http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1013216-psat-2010-wednesday-writing-discussion-13.html#post1065735761

@musicgirljh: the thing is if you don’t report right away… it might not count… i had this thing with my SATII listening where my CD skipped and i didn’t report it and they couldn’t do anything about it because there was no proof

ahhh someone i’m dying here! What was the computer/tv ads one?? About the viewers??

The people in passage two could avoid the ads, but the people in passage one couldn’t. The other question that I remember on that passage is that it would be advantageous to not place ads on less-attractive/dull websites.

I thought that TV viewers could avoid ads and that both related to ad placement…Agreed or no?
