PSAT cutoff

does NMSC divulge the cut-offs for each state? To get an idea for the average cut-off and to compare cut-offs among states, tell us your PSAT score (assuming you're a finalist) and your state.
P.S. don't basically all semi-finalists become finalists?

NMSC never divulges the cut-offs for each state, but you can search past threads on CC to get fairly accurate listings of what the cut-offs have been for the past couple of years.

Since the mean score on the Oct. 2006 PSAT was 3 - 4 points lower than the Oct. 2005 mean score, and the cut-off score for Commended Student dropped from 203 to 200, there has been some speculation that the state cut-offs for Semifinalists might be lower next year too (although it wouldn't be across the board and might vary state by state, due to the way the cutoff is calculated). We'll just have to wait until next September and see.

Roughly 90% of the semifinalists advance to finalist -- 15,000 out of 16,000. When students don't become finalists, it's usually due to SAT scores that don't match their PSAT performance, or a relatively low GPA, or they don't get the paperwork in on time.

why is there no search function for CC?

there is a search function - blue bar across the top - 4th one across

sorry, stupid me
