are they very similar.

Im just curious cause on the psat i got an 80 in that section (i got like a 220 overall).

Is it safe to say that if i got an 80 in that section i could get an 800 on math section for sat?

Could? Yes. Likely? Perhaps not. An 800 is very difficuly obviously, but the questions on the PSAT and SAT are very similar. You are clearly good at math so assuming you remember all the strategies you were equipped with when taking the PSAT (sometimes people score lower when not enrolled in a math class and failing to look over material before test day), you should score very highly on the SAT1 Math. I would say over 700 definitely and most likely 750-800. Just my opinion.

I got a 67 on the PSAT Math Section, but a 590 on the actual SAT. But then again, I got a 51 on the PSAT Writing Section, but a 690 and 9 essay on the actual SAT. According to my results, they are quite different tests.

ya you should have a good potential to get an 800

rmadden15- thats very similar to what i did. I got a 64 on the PSAT math, 570 on the SAT math.
I got a 57 on PSAT CR, 600 on SAT CR -not a big gap there, but.
53 on the PSAT Writing, 580 SAT Writing. soo. who knows!

My S got an 80 on both the PSAT Math and CR sections, and he got an 800 on the CR SAT twice, and a 720/730 on the math SAT. (He insisted on taking it again because he was annoyed about his math score, but never did any SAT prep at all, so it's not surprising his score didn't rise significantly.) So the PSAT was definitely predictive of CR, but not M, FWIW. His PSAT W was around 73, IIRC, and his SAT W was 780.

Based on his experience, I'd say that if you got an 80 on the PSAT you are likely to get a 7?? on the SAT. If you want to shoot for an 800, do some prep.

I had an 80 on the PSAT, but only 690 on the SAT. I only took the SAT once though and had a 34 on the ACT math

I never thought the PSAT was a great predictor of SAT scores, but I would still say you're probably going to get over a 700 because you're obviously very good at math.

The PSAT is a bit easier than the SAT, reflecting lower level math. The SAT is also longer, allowing for more chances for error. However, if you managed to get a 80 on the PSAT, then an 800 is well within reach. I got a 800 on my SAT but did not on the PSAT.

The PSAT is generally easier than the SAT by a little, especially in the math section.

However, you should be able to get an 800.

Hey, i got an 80 on the PSAT math section too. When i took the SAT math section though, i went down to a 760. After seeing the score report, i found out that i got two of the easy questions wrong, costing me FORTY points. I thought that was ridiculous, but whatever. Just try not to make any stupid mistakes like I did and you should be fine.
(By the way, take the ACT too, i took that and found it to be much easier than the SAT even though the SAT seemed pretty easy.)

You sound like a strong candidate to take the SAT II's in Math (Math I or Math II) I understand the it's actually easier to get a high score on the Math II than the Math I, provided you've had the appropriate classes.
Good luck!
