@brentwoodmom - congrats to your son.1510 is amazing.
My D’s counselor said she couldn’t figure out how to get it. @brentwoodmom congrats to your son. Did he happen to take the November SAT. I’ve been trying to relate the two tests. My D got a 1500 in that and I’m hoping that’s a good sign.
Thanks Chucko!
Bertiemom- he hasn’t taken the real SAT yet.
New 2017 PSAT/NMSQT Understanding Scores https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/psat-nmsqt-understanding-scores.pdf
If the 2017 reading was harder than on the 2016 test, I wonder whether the old percentiles are accurate as applied to this test. If the percentiles are not accurate, perhaps the NM threshold could go down?
Why can’t CB come up with an actual percentile rather than a fake one based on prior administrations of potentially easier tests?
For other homeschoolers, I wish there was a way for the parent to view scores online… I’ve already seen mine because of the CB glitch, but why can’t all scores just be released today to everyone?
nice job for everyone who convinced their counselors to leak scores! Sadly for me I’ll have to wait another week before I get to see them on college board… Hopefully it’ll be worth the wait!
My counselor gave me my score today. Is a 1410/1520 eligible to receive any NMS recognition???
@amycee What is your selection index number? It should be included with your score. Also, which state do you live in?
You can see what last year’s index number cutoffs were… it’s possible for the cutoffs to change: http://publicuniversityhonors.com/2013/12/11/psat-national-merit-scholar-qualifying-scores-by-state/
@CharlotteLetter I totally agree! When so many people saw scores that were obviously ready I really felt College Board should just release them. Why keep holding them back?
@amycee That score can produce a Selection Index of anywhere from 206-217 depending on the scores in the two sections (ebrw counts double the math). Depending on your state, the higher end of that range could yield NMSF. The middle of that range and higher also is likely to be at least Commended Student.
Son just got score - 223 in CA. Hoping for NMSF and that the CA index doesn’t go up more than 1 point this year!
What testing date did your son have? I’m supposed to get mine back on the 11th, a bit confused.
he tested on the Saturday. scores won’t be up at collegeboard until next monday but he received his from his counseling office today
@ab2002 Schools have scores. If your school uses Naviance, check your Naviance account under the “about me”, “test scores” section to see if your school uploaded them.
I don’t see anything. RIP.
@Bridge19 He should be set. No way CA goes up 2 points. I’m happy but a little disappointed at the same time. Scored a 221 here in Fl so I should be set but not happy with my overall score from where I thought it would be. Now I have to wait and see which questions I missed when I get the hard copy back. Best of luck to everyone.
So, when we get the scores through college board, do we see both the Index and the score out of 1520?
It sounds to me like this years test was harder than last years, so I don’t think indices will be increasing, but that is just my gut feeling/opinion, and perhaps could vary by state. But CA, NJ and the other super high ones are practically perfect scores already, I just don’t see how they could go up.
The score report will include the score for each section, selection index and a line by line run down for each question on the test (what type of question it is, the question’s level of difficulty, what A/B/C/D answer the tester taker put down, and what the right answer is). Very detailed and comprehensive…
Last year we were able to get the scores online the same day the schools got them. Maybe it was because of the fiasco that was Class of 2017 and the fact the scores were delayed until JANUARY. I don’t understand why they don’t release them online the day the send to counselors. Its the exact same process / system for online scores. They are physically suppressing them (who knows why).
For those of you with NAVIANCE - log into your account and look at the test scores section. If the counselors have loaded the file with the scores to Naviance (which they normally do) you will able to see your kids scores there. This worked for us during SAT and SAT subject test score releases. This assumes the school has loaded the file already (which they may or may not have yet). But keep checking!
