PSAT/NMSQT Class of 2019

Ok well I just saw my index and it’s a 212. The commended cutoff is 211 and I’m a sophomore so do I just not receive any sort of recognition???

@amycee The PSAT is truly just practice for Sophomores. The score and SI that you get when you take it as a Junior will be the basis for any National Merit recognition.

i don’t think it is so easy for all counselors. I think for our district, the counselors need to get a pass code from the district office. Maybe this is because the district gets them and then uploads to Naviance.

Question: does anyone know what TIME on Monday, Dec. 11 the test results are released? And what time zone?

normally gets released at midnight or even a few tad minutes early… good luck…

@amycee Soph don’t get recognition anyway. Junior is the one that is used for National Merit. 212 is an excellent index score for a Sophomore.

Thanks! I guess I’ll just wait until next year. Hopefully I’ll achieve a better score

@amycee you’re in a great place to do well next year! One thing to watch out for, if you’re taking advanced mathematics, is that you don’t forget the simpler math that the PSAT and SAT focus on. You may want to spend some quality time with Khan Academy over the summer, or at least in early October of next year. That’s what killed my kid’s score - he hasn’t been in class for some of this stuff since 8th grade, and it shuffled out of his head.

Okay, thanks! That is a really great tip; I actually went back and practiced some geometry problems before the test and I think that really helped me. I’m going to be in AP Calc AB next year so I’ll make sure to review certain mathematical concepts before attempting the PSAT my 2nd time

@comom25 midnight when? on sunday night? midnight eastern time zone…so 9pm on the west coast? More specifics please…thank you.

@LvMyKids2 There should be a map on the collegeboard website with time zones and dates released.

@waterbrether725 i obviously looked that the CB website. I do not see anything on time zones.

Parent of Class of 2018 NMSF here. If this hasn’t already been discussed, there is a chance some of you can access the PSAT scores early through Naviance if your school uses that (and if the scores were uploaded). I learned this trick last year and gained access to my D’s score that way before the release. Good luck to all!

Should have added you have to click on “About Me” then “Test Scores.”

Received scores through naviance today.

my freshman had taken the psat/nmsqt this fall… in the low 1200 but good considering she is a freshman. Are their books that people couch for to improve their scores…

our naviance has not been updated.

@comom25 Just have her study for the SAT.

Our guidance counselors just sent out an email saying that the scores will be released on Monday and that they will hand the hard copy reports to the kids next week. Guess they aren’t willing to share early…

My son did well with no study–1400. Not enough to make NMS, but better than we hoped for. Proud of him:-)
