PSAT score increase sophomore to junior year?

I got a 205 sophomore year on my PSAT, and the only prep I did was take one practice test. (72 math, 69 writing, 64 reading)

I live in a state with a pretty high cutoff for National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists... About 220-221.

How much did your score increase between sophomore and junior year and what did you do to prepare?

My score went from 167 in sophomore year to 191 in junior year (1940 SAT in May) – a 24 point improvement without NO preparation. Just keep doing your best in advanced classes to naturally improve. With preparation (maybe the official SAT study guide), you should be able to improve significantly, if you haven’t already read it/done the practice tests.

Okay thanks! Anyone else have a similar experience?

Beginning of freshman year I scored like a 1500 on SAT (150 PSAT). Sophomore year, I scored 1850s (185 PSAT). I didn’t really study.
But now I’m trying to bring that score up to 210+ (state cutoff). D:

I went from a 194 sophomore year to a 216 junior year. I think I did a couple SAT practice tests, which basically prepare you for the PSAT.

So is a 205 good for sophomore year?

depends on the state. If you live in NY or something like that… well it’s bad. You need to be around 210…

BUt sure, close enough

205 is great for sophomore year. One person on the fora that scored a 2400 didn’t hit 200 in his sophomore year.

Well the OP said he lived in a state with a cutoff of 220+. I think he should score around 210 to make the jump easier.
Right?

205 is pretty beast for a sophomore. Just study more and hope for the best.

205 is really good for a sophomore. You should have no problem in making the jump that you want to make, maybe just do a couple practice tests.

I got 207 sophomore year and a 231 junior year. In the time between, I attended some free seminars at the library and took both the SAT and ACT at the end of the school year. I also had a pretty amazing English teacher junior year, which improved my writing.

Haha yeah I’m a girl… but I live in a state that for the past five years or so has been 220-221 as the cutoff…

I think I can pretty safely guarantee getting commended (unless my score randomly goes down like 10 points…) but I really want to be a semifinalist.

Anyone else? How much did your score change sophomore to junior year?
