"it asks me for a access code what should i do?"

You had to have previously signed up. Otherwise you'll have to wait for the school to hand out scores so you can get the access code.

Ugh. 1 wrong in each section again, which last year was a 234... this year is 230. lkfdjsfklsdflkh I hate the curve.

Above the cutoff for my state, though.

It's just disappointing compared to last year. :/

So if we know the cutoff for SF... are finalists selected within that group based on scores or based on that other stuff you submit? :/

for my sophomore it says I have to check back in a few days for the online report. I've tried every which way to get around it, but it keeps telling me that!

UGGGH!

Yeah, I get the "give us your e-mail and we'll let you know around Dec. 10" msg.

So then I call College Board, and the lady I speak to tells me (very vehemently) that you cannot access PSAT scores online - PERIOD! That they are only handed out by the counselors at school.

I tell her that I am looking at many people's scores on line, and she tells me that they must be SAT scores. I say, "No, they are 3 digit" She says SAT are 3 digit, PSAT are 2, I argue that if you add the three scores it hopefully adds up to a 3 digit number! And that those are the numbers I'm talking about! Geesh, I've been through this twice before! I know the difference between SAT and PSAT scores!!!

Whatever, I'm done arguing with her - they insist that ya'll are all NUTS :)

I'm just going to be patient and wait for my SLOW counselors to hand the goods over!

NICE i got a 231!!!!

HARSH curve though, -1 math= 75, -1 writing = 76

Can we find out the new cutoffs for SF?

Not until next August.

What do people expect the cutoffs to do? Up or down?

the cutoffs will probably go way up, like it'll be a big deal i'm guessing because the curves were so harsh.

...Why would they go up? I don't understand.

the cutoff went down last year because they changed the way they scored the writing section. i would expect it to be within +/- 2 points.

Craaaap. I'm in DC and got a 223. Last year's cutoff was 223. It BETTER NOT GO UP >_<

i would guess it would go up because it seems like people generally did a lot better. so the top half percent or watever would have higher scores.

wow thanks so much to the person who posted this, saved me from a lot of anxiety! i was happy with CR and M, but jeez the curve is harsh on W!!

nice method! thanks a lot to the OP!

if the curves are harsh, doesn't that mean that the scores for commended and semi-finalist cutoffs will be lower than last year? just trying to reason this out...

I have a quick question. There's been word circulating on this forum that the "cutoff" will be 213, 219, blah blah blah.

By "cutoff" do you mean the semi-finalist cutoff? If you make that, does that mean that any one of those people who scored above that cutoff can APPLY for finalist positions?

I don't think so...a harsher curve means that more people scored in the upper ranges, doesn't it? Therefore, they don't need as low of a cutoff to get the same amount of people.

However, this probably depends on how people end up doing compositely (if the same few people got the top of the curve, the cutoff's going to be harsh)
I'm hoping my score (228) will allow me to be a Finalist (I'm in VA, so I'll almost definitely make semifinalist), but I'm not so sure. Writing is the only thing that messed me up (159 otherwise).

Thanks so much for the trick, I am happy I don't need to wait any longer!

yea but isn't the curve set before people take the test?
