So, I got my PSAT score back today. 1320. I know it’s okay, but I’m just really upset about it. I got a 740 on reading and 580 on math. 580!!! That’s worse than I did last year. I know how it happened, the math without calculator section screwed me over. 6 right and ten wrong, whereas on the much larger math with calculator section, I only got 4 wrong. I also took the practice test and got a 1410 with a 680 on math. Any tips for the math without calculator section?
Khan Academy, Prep books, textbooks. The math section for SAT and PSAT should really be black and white if you study. There were some hard questions this year but not too bad compared to SAT. Really you just have to know the stuff… If you have questions you can contact me na4216w@gmail.com (self-proclaimed PSAT [1350 became a 1510] expert lol)
My son is a sophomore, he took PSAT8/9 last year without any prep and only got 1270, this summer he did 8 official SAT tests by college board as prep for his PSAT and he found out his score is 1470 (720/750 math), he still needs to work on reading but we are pretty happy about the improvement. So I think finding past real tests and work on them is effective.
@makemesmart Just an FYI, those 8 are not really test question, College Board wrote them, but they haven’t been actuall tests at least from my knowledge.
Was the issue running out of time? If so, make sure you practice the math no-calc section a lot to make sure you can maximize your score. Also, check out The College Panda or PWN Math to understand concepts and get more practice specific to certain math areas/concepts.
