PSAT Scores 2011

Hi New Jersey student here, I got a 225:

CR: 80
Math: 69
Writing: 76

Will this be good enough for national merit semifinalist?

^ Yes.

10char

Hi~ im a Texas junior, got a 237

CR 80
Math 77
Writing 80

I’m pretty i sure made semifinalist, but how are the 8500 finalists decided?

@Michelle

There are 15000 Finalists, not 8500, which for those of us who are Semifinalists is a good thing. If you make Semifinalist and send in all the appropriate materials, and you have a reasonably good GPA and are not a felon, you should move on to finalist.

I did mine as an application for a gifted program, 212!!! im really happy because i was 12 turning thirteen when i did it. I didn’t get to to study because my guidance counsellor told me that you shouldn’t study for the psat and that for the gifted program they prepared unprepared test scores

I’m pretty upset with myself, because my math dropped about 10 points compared to what it was from last year (and I’ve always considered it to be my strong-suit too)! My score did go up because of my CR though, heh.

80CR
61M (had a 70 last year :()
69W
210 Total

That 210 is making me a little nervous, because South Carolina’s cutoff seems to have been jumping back and forth over that number for the last few years (going anywhere from a 208 to 212). I dooo know that I definitely got commended though, and the National Hispanic Recognition Program as well.
