PSAT: Subject percentile versus total percentile

Hey! I took the PSAT this fall as a junior.

On Collegeboard.com it tells you what percentage you lie in FOR EACH SUBJECT in one's state.

I got 98%, 97%, and 97% (Crit/Math/Writing) for my state. Is it still possible for me to be in the top 1% overall IN MY STATE?

Thanks :) And sorry for the gratuitous CAPS.

Theoretically, yes. If people at the top tend to do best in one particular section (which seems reasonable), then it’s possible for you to be in the top 1%. Not likely, but possible.

Argh. The wait is killing me.

What was your score, and what state do you live in?

My score was 219, and I live in California.

Tuakkii, I believe last year’s cutoff was 217 so if the cutoff doesn’t drastically change, you might make it.
