The collegeboard is the biggest educational scandal in the U.S. You shouldn’t even care what you get on the SAT.

“scandal” or not, money is money.

good luck tommorrow silverturtle. Though I doubt you’ll need it considering your ridiculous SAT skills.

Let’s close this thread with this final statement:

GOOD LUCK TO ALL :)

just wondering: how many ppl (approx) make NMSF each year?

And for each state, do they just determine what the top 1% of scores are for the cutoff each year?

16,000 make Semifinalist each year; of those, 15,000 make Finalist.

“And for each state, do they just determine what the top 1% of scores are for the cutoff each year?”

I think there is an established number set with proportionate representation in mind. It usually comes out to about the top 1-1.5% of test-takers in a given state, but it varies state-to-state I believe.

I’m not particularly worried, I’m actually going in with a kinda odd strategy that I’ve figured out, if I answer every question I generally score in the 700’s versus omitting some and scoring 600’s…weird.

^ Same with me but it usually fluctuates around high 50s to 60s. I omitted way too many questions last time. I’m planning to answer all (with 1-2 omissions if needed) questions tomorrow. Hopefully, I have enough time.

With that said, good luck everyone!

I remember last year when I took it… about 1/10th of the people in there even took it halfway seriously. The guy sitting next to me (they arranged us alphabetically at these big tables) literally slept through the whole thing. The proctors didn’t even try to wake him up.

GO to SLEEP GUYS! LOL i should not be talking.

I’m too nervous to rest, unfortunately.

If you worry about it you won’t sleep.

Can anyone explain to me why people are nervous for the PSAT? I mean seriously? It’s a “P” SAT. Given that you can win the national merit scholarship, but if you’re aiming for the top colleges (as I assume people who get worried over the PSAT are), that means very little – focus on your SATs, sillies.

^ maybe you should read the thread? Silverturtle has something like $32,000 resting on it!

A tip for the SC for the person who asked, first decide if the needed word should be positive or negative, eleminate based on that fact usually you can cut it down by 1/2.

Then eliminate the words you do know and you are certain are incorrect, sat loves to put the opposite of the answer in the choices.

Also know root words/suffixes/prefix. This past Oct SAT I knew that the question wanted a noun that described a person who did many things, even though I’ve never seen the word ‘polymath’ I knew it was correct because I knew ‘poly’ means ‘many’.

Good luck!

i dont feel nervous, but i DO feel unprepared :/

ok. $32,000 obviously makes sense. But I’m talking about the rest of you LOL

LOL I cant sleep, Crap I have to wake up at 5 PM

OMG i just took form W. i know i have 1 wrong in CR and 1 wrong in W already. greaaaaaat. that brings me down to 230.

^That’s a tough curve.

Good luck everyone.
