PSAT: Wednesday Speculation - Thoughts?

In your opinion, how do you think you did? Awesome? Absolutely terrible? How did the sections compare to the ones you've seen or practiced with?

Personally, I'm in the middle. I either barely made it, completely flunked out, or even worse, missed the cutoff by a point or two. I just thought that the CR was slightly ridiculous... On the math, I made 2 dumb mistakes... wait. Make that 3. Writing was fairly simple for me though.

I'm praying to the PSAT gods for, a well, godly curve. Not so much on the M and W, but on the CR :p

I didn’t know much about the PSAT, or even the NMS, so I made a few beginner mistakes; I messed up two (possibly three) math problems due to misreading their questions/answers and I left a two blanks that I probably shouldn’t have.

All in all I either just barely made the cutoff or just missed it.

My estimated score: 212-219, my state’s cutoff last year was 214.

Gahh I’m with you CantConcentrate. What’s your state’s cutoff score? In MD, it’s a freaking 221…I know I got 2 wrong on math, maybe 1 wrong on writing, and like 4 wrong on CR…is that above 221?

I can’t believe those 2 math questions might cost me $2500 though… D:

My state’s cutoff is absurdly low compared to 221 haha :stuck_out_tongue: It’s 209.

I missed 3-5 CR (I’m not trusting CC with all of the answers… :D), 3 math, and 1-2 writing… sigh

And I’m with you on that too… Those CR sections might have cost me $50000…

-1 M, -2 W, -1 or -2 CR.
So 225+
As long as it’s above 220, I’m good to go.

^ Hah, similar situation here. I have at least -1 CR that I know for sure, maybe -0 M (I’d be so excited, but I’m sure I made a stupid mistake somewhere), and anywhere from like -0 to -3 on W.

I feel like I might’ve missed my state’s cutoff of 220. I think I’m down 2 in Math (I’m kicking myself over this since they were stupid mistakes), at least 2 in CR (know I missed 2 for sure), and at least 1 in Writing (section felt good but the curve is gonna be bad). Just gonna hope for the best but I had a bad gut feeling after the test.

Math

38 80 80-80
37 76 75-77
36 73 72-74
35 71 70-72
34 69 68-70

CR

48 80 80-80
47 79 78-80
46 76 75-80
45 74 73-79
44 74 72-77
43 72 70-75

Writing

39 80 80-80
38 77 75-80
37 74 72-78
36 72 70-75
35 70 68-73
34 68 66-71

Okay. I have to say… these are the curves from 2005-2008 for the various PSATs. IF  the CR curve ends up being the right most one, I will officially die happy.

FUN FACT: The 2011 Practice PSAT was the 2009 PSAT.

I sincerely hope the curve is like the 2008 test, but I don’t know if it will be. How does the 2008 test compare to the 2011 W test?

@Overide

IIRC, the 2008 test was somewhat harder.

According to the 2008 test I got around 226, but according to my own estimates I got around a 217. We’ll see, I guess.

@labeisoup: In which aspects? All of them?

Nevermind, I think I was just rather sleep-deprived when I took that 2008 test, which accounts for the big drop in my score on it.

So… I’ve missed 4-5 CR (-6 raw), 3 M (-3 raw), and 2 or 3 on W (-2/3 raw). If I used a combo of the curves I listed:

CR: 68
M: 70
W: 70

At the VERY worst, I got a 208. 1 point below my cutoff. ■■■.

CR: 72
M: 72
W: 78

At the VERY best, I got a 222. Can I start praying now :/

I have another curve here. No idea what year it is, though.

CR: 80, 80, 78, 76, 74, 72, 71, 69, 68, 67, 66

M: 80, 77, 74, 72, 70, 68, 66, 65, 64, 62, 61

W: 80, 80, 78, 77, 76, 74, 73, 71, 69, 68, 66

At worst, I got a 75 75 72, which is a 222 (that’s -1 M, -2 CR, -2 W with lowest scores). At best, I got a 77 80 78 which is a 235 (-1 M, -1 CR, -2 W with highest scores). Realistically, I got a 229 (average for -1 M -1 CR -2 W). Praying for a littttle better curve so I can hit 230, but all I need is a +220.

Either way you’re good lol. I don’t want to, but I’m still thinking about my PSAT…

^Haha ME TOO! :D

I probably got around an 170 if I’m lucky :’(
