Psat

hey!!!! =)

Days till I receive PSAT score : 40
Hours: 960
Minutes!!! :57,600
Seconds :sigh: : 3,456,000......

borderline as well! hope the curve is lenient...
at least i got commened =/ .. i think... oh god!

I hope writing is 80 80 80 again, I think math will be 80 77 74, there were a couple questions that I found harder than usual. English I'm not too sure but my fingers are crossed for an 80 80 79, although I guess I'll be fine if it's the same as last year's.

Vinny, what's the qualifying score in your state?

I got three wrong on writing last year and scored a 76. Why would the curve be 80 80 80 76?

I'm confident that I only got one math problem wrong, so I'll probably get a 77.

I'm expecting an 80 in writing.

...Which means I need a 65 on CR. Ugh, I bet I got a 64. I got a 60 last year.

Three wrong is a -4 which was a 77, I got the same as you last year. The curve was 80 80 80 79 77.

Haha mibad.

Ah, *** is up with different curves for everyone. Last year I got one math wrong and ended up with a 76. A friend of mine - who goes to my school; we got the same exact tests - got a different question wrong and got a 77.

Writing last year was:
80 (0 off)
80 (1 off, = 1 wrong)
80 (2 off, = 2 wrong)
78 (3 off, = 2 wrong, 1 omit)
76 (4 off, = 3 wrong)

218 last yr .. prob 219 this yr ...=/ .. sigh

I'm pretty sure the curves are the same for everyone.

are you sure they didn't take the saturday test, theoneo?

I honestly think math will go 80 77 75....

I think the PSAT practice has curves that should be about the same as the real thing.

Last year for Wednesday it was 77 for -4 writing and 76 for -1 math.

I agree with sr6622 on the math curve, won't be as bad as last year's.

''what do you think of 80 78 75 73 70 or so for wednesday math? and will it still be 80 80 80 79 for writing?''

whoever wrote this should get slapped. 80 78 75 73 70 for math is wayy too lenient. -2 on the SAT was 760 and the curve for PSAT is way harsher. More like 80 76 74 70 68 66.

80 78 for math is almost impossible but 80 77 is likely imo.

Both of us took the test on Saturday. I didn't think there were different versions for the same day and same school, though. Whatever. As long as it doesn't happen this year (when it counts). ;)

what do you think the math score would be if i got 1 wrong and had 2 omits....

My Guess....MATH
80-77-74-70-68

WRITING
80-80-80-78-75

CR
80-80-79-77-74

I my two experiences with the PSAT, look at the curve in the practice booklet. The curve on the actual test follows the general rule that

on the CR and Wr: for example, it if the raw score is a 36 on the WR in the book, look at the scaled score for a 35.

On the math: for example, if the scaled score says 77, then make it a 76.

However, I must warn you that this is from my personal experience, and there may be a few discrepencies. It's not perfect, but it should give you a start.

I like s snack's curve but I doubt CR will be that good, probably 80 80 78 76 74.
