PSATs vs old SAT (2400 score) tests

I just finished working on all publicly available official CB SAT practice tests. Now I’m trying to decide between doing PSAT practice tests vs doing SAT practice tests from the old SAT with the 2400 maximum score.

Which one do you think would be more beneficial?

Does anyone have experience preparing for the new SAT with the old SAT materials?

I would assume the PSAT because it is supposed to prepare you for the SAT while the old SAT contains a lot of unnecessary vocabulary

“Does anyone have any experience preparing for the new SAT with the old SAT materials?”
I do. I took the SAT four years ago, and still have my blue book handy. I didn’t use it before I actually took it, but I am using it quite a bit now since I’m applying to college this fall.

“Which do you think would be more beneficial?”
As far as which provides the best preparation, both would get you used to the style of questions the SAT tests you on. From what I remember when I took it six years ago, the PSAT was simply a compilation of all the easy material from the ACT with questions written in the style you’ll see on the actual SAT. The SAT also hasn’t changed its wording style. It just removed the vocabulary and added a bunch of graphs and charts. It’s pretty much the same test besides that. Thus, they’re both great options for prep.
