Also- I got the email and my admission is showing up on my MyPennState page so I know I’m in, but haven’t gotten my packet in the mail yet. Anyone else?
@hatsoff2017 I received my acceptance online and got my package like 4 days later. Just wait it’ll be coming soon.

So they arent releasing any more decisions this week… that sucks.
@green1080 Nice, this is exactly what I was looking for.
Does anyone know how many are accepted into the nursing program for how many spots?
Is it possible that by checking the summer program option I am less likely to get into university park in in the fall now? Will they see that i checked summer option and possibly just put me there?
Penn State says that the Summer Session option is only considered if you cannot be accepted to Fall at UP so in the long run it helps you out because you have a better chance of getting into UP. I know a lot of people who checked it with lower stats and ended up getting in for fall so don’t worry @finnbd33
I have heard that people have gotten denied for their applied major but accepted DUS. Does anyone know how this works? Does admissions tell you that you are denied but say you are eligible for admission for DUS? Or would you need to re apply DUS?
I recently contacted the admissions office about this. If you get denied from a specific major you can reapply for DUS or a different major and it only takes about a week to reconsider you. @pchan17
My daughter applied, and was accepted, to Summer. My son did it two years ago and described it as “THE BEST WAY TO GET ACCLIMATED TO A BIG UNIVERSITY AND MAKE FRIENDS QUICKLY”.
@finnbd33 No, that’s not how it works. They ONLY look at your second choice starting semester if they can’t give you admission to your first. So, they will evaluate you for fall first. If you get in there, great. If you don’t, they move on to the next thing which would be summer. If you get in there, great. If you don’t, they move on to the second choice starting campus IF you selected one. If you did, they will offer you a branch campus spot. You are not disadvantaged by putting summer OR an alternate campus. They will always attempt to give you your first choice if possible.
My daughter did summer 2 years ago (3.5 GPA, 29 ACT DUS major didn’t get in for fall but got in for summer) and it was the best thing she ever did (according to her). LOVED it.
has anyone heard from the College of IST yet?
I’ve seen no IST acceptances as of yet. Very disappointing. OSU is looking better and better.
@Trollair I’ve actually seen quite a few IST acceptances, many of my friends got into IST, although they all had GPA’s.
What dobou mean “they all had GPA 's”?
Typically, how difficult is IST (compared to Smeal/Engineering on one hand, and Education/Agriculture on the other?)
@MYOS1634 @hasannadeem47 I think he meant they all had “high” GPA’s…because many of the high stat kids hear first.
@Trollair I think counting in, or counting out, a school because of their admission policy is short sighted to say the least. PSU tells you how they release decisions and they tell you that you will hear by Jan 31. They haven’t lied to you unless you don’t hear by then. It is not a first in first out process and they’ve never said it was.
Accepted December 8th!

@jlhpsu My comment was off the cuff and emotional. Didn’t think it would be taken seriously. Of course, the final decision on which college my son will be attend will be based on a number of factors. No need to lecture me.
@Trollair Not lecturing. Glad to hear it. We see those comments all of the time on this board and they are not facetious in any way. So that’s why I commented the way I did
