@julietan0813 Were you accepted or are you asking to be chanced? If you were accepted this early with those stats that would be pretty amazing
apologize for any confusion, asking to be chanced!!
@hasannadeem47 asking to be chanced! sorry for any confusion
Got it, your unweighted GPA is in the range although your weighted is a little low and you SAT is relatively sub par for University Park. Your best bet would be to apply for Undecided and Summer Session and you might get in.
@hasannadeem47 thank you! I selected the summer session and criminology as my major. Is the summer session like you start in the summer then continue as a fall student and still graduate from University Park? I am really confused about how it works. If I requested to change my major to Undecided, would they be able to grant my request?
@julietan0813 The summer session is basically just taking a few core classes over the summer and knocking some credits out of the way while also transitioning to the campus and whatnot. From what I’ve heard people seem to really enjoy it and say it really helps. I’m not sure how competitive criminology is but I wouldn’t ask them to change it to DUS now because they may not get to it before the November 30th priority date. Probably better to just take your chances.
@julietan0813 PSU Summer Session is for students that they think are borderline. They admit them for summer to see how they adapt, as well as to lighten their course loads since they’re taking core classes. I think you’re a little low for Main Campus overall, so if you selected Summer Session you may have a chance, though you’re probably better off starting at a branch and transferring to UP with the 2+2 program.
For those accepted, do they mail a letter to you or is it just the document on the portal?
@julietan0813 My daughter started summers session 2 years ago and loved it. She applied for fall with the option to start in the summer checked. She had a 3.45 GPA and a 28ACT and was denied fall and admitted summer. It was the best thing she ever did. They don’t re evaluate you after summer session or anything. You just start in the summer and take 2 classes that everyone in your group is taking. So you get to know more kids because they are all in the same classes (called “prides” in the LEAP program) Summer session is about 6 weeks long. Then you roll right into fall. Its a fun summer in state college and low pressure courseload. You take 2 classes that are considered to be gen eds, with one of those focused on your major of interest. So my daughter joined the Biobehavioral Health Pride and had to take an English class and a BBH class. She was a little bummed about having to start in the summer, but she would tell you now - as a sophomore at UP - that it was incredibly fun and she is very glad she did it.
@julietan0813 I did summer this year and it was pretty fun. You just take two gen eds and get adjusted to the University. I would say though your Sat is kind of low (what was the breakdown), if you get that up you should have a decent chance at summer session.
Hi, can anyone tell me what my chances are for psu 2021 UP?
Applied 2nd week of September for biomedical engineering and summer session
SAT: 1760 (math 600, reading 530, writing 630)
GPA: 4.53
Rank: 53/318
decent amount of ec and 200+ volunteering hours
@coffee2017 Your GPA is obviously very good, but your SAT score is a little weak. Engineering might be a little tough but checking off summer session will certainly help. I think you have a decent shot
Thank you all for the answers! Really helpful

@mdb2251 You should have no problems at all. Your GPA and SAT are both good and you are also double legacy. Since you applied undecided and summer session, I’d say you’re basically guaranteed acceptance.
@hasannadeem47 Awsome! Thanks for the reply!
I applied first week on September but they only matched my SAT scores to my app 2 weeks ago due to my hyphenated last name. What are my chances for Aerospace Engineering?
UW GPA 3.92
SAT 1490. 730 RW, 760 Math
Wrote good essay. Decent Ecs
Any Chance for HOnors college?
@thickmancollege Should be a lock for Admission, probably Schreyer too if your essay is good.
@hasannadeem47 thanks, I really wan to get into Schreyer!
I applied last week of September. What are my chances for industrial engineering??
Weighted GPA- 3.85
SAT-1340 (math-700)(reading-640)
great ECs
Dad went to Penn state
one of the top ranked high schools in PA

I know my GPA is a little low, but do I have any chance at main for engineering. I might try to get in DUS summer if I don’t get into engineering main.
