@fhockeymom0600 @ccs0623 My daughter, too, is waiting for PSU’s decision for Nursing. Her stats are quite similar to your descriptions…it’s nerve wracking!
@mom4nan2 , @fhockeymom0600 , and @ccs0623. If your kids are close to a 4.0, I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t get into PSU nursing. My daughter had slightly lower stats and she was accepted to UP last year…but she started in the summer. Relax. It will all be resolved very soon. I remember how sick with anxiety last year.
@carmen00 my son was accepted into Communications but we haven’t received a letter. What state are you in?
@carmen00 My Daughter received one too today ! Congratulations to you & the class of PSU 2022 !
@jlhpsu it was like a normal card they send out and it had basic info about the college of comm on it. On the bottom there was a short handwritten note from the dean.
@lastone03 I live in PA. I got accepted nearly two months ago, if that matters.
@njmom22 I see from your comment history that your daughter has already committed to penn state, congrats to her! I really like their comm school, but PSU is more expensive than some of my other colleges, so I probably won’t be able to go there, unfortunately.
Anyone accepted with 1300+SAT and 3.3+ uwgpa?
@carmen00 Curious…what other schools did you apply to? PSU is the closest of the schools she applied.
Do you think you may qualify for FAFSA Aid? Best of luck to you…wherever you land.
@njmom22 I applied to USC, Boston U, Emerson, Syracuse, Temple, and Alabama. Temple and Alabama both came in with significant merit aid that cover full or near full tuition.
Unfortunately, my family will not get enough in need-based aid. Although I applied to all the schools I was interested in, I know that most schools on my list will end up being unaffordable. But there’s always a chance. Temple, for example, surprised me with a full tuition scholarship. It’s also the closest to home on my list (1.5 hrs away). You never know until you apply, right?
@carmen00 what were your stats?
@carmen00 All great schools! We went to visit USC (CA) did you get in there? It is extremely competitive & expensive!! We took that one off our list. Alabama loves the best & brightest PA & NJ students & they have a reputation of giving lots of $$ Keep us posted
Admissions isn’t closed Monday.
@carmen00 Temple has an excellent comm program, and to graduate without debt would be a significant leg up in a field that doesn’t start you at a very high salary. Congrats on the scholarship! Maybe PSU will surprise you too, now that Comm is all full of money
A reminder that Penn is in Philadelphia, and it is no-no at either school to confuse Penn with PSU (aka State, or Penn State, but never Penn)
@Sophley 33 ACT, 4.53 W GPA, 3.94 UW GPA
@njmom22 Still waiting to hear back from USC since they don’t offer EA or ED. It’s my top school, but the 16% acceptance rate and $60k+ COA are scary.
@greenbutton that would be fantastic lol. Either way, Temple is a great option for me too.
Besides the fact that the admissions office is open on Monday, it also is worth it to check the portal more than once a day towards the end of January. When all of the decisions start being released, you will see multiple decision waves within one day. The day my daughter was accepted a few years ago, there were decisions in the morning, afternoon, evening, etc…all on that same day. So while during the slower periods they do only update once a day - you will see when decisions start rolling in in huge waves, there will be multiple decision postings a day.
Thank you, @jlhpsu. Good to know!
One thing I don’t understand - I was invited to For The Glory, an accepted student program for the very very highest achieving acceptees to Penn State. But the event is next weekend - what if a high achiever is accepted later on? Do they accept the best students first, or do some just get screwed over?
around when would you say they started double posting
If you applied by Nov 30 and are among the highest achievers admitted, you hear first. If you’re a high achiever and applied after Nov 30, then you are considered after everyone else.
What are high achiever stats? Just asking…would it vary from com to nursing to comp sci to pmm? Forgive my ignorance. How do kids with ACT 33-36 not get processed yet nor get invitations to For The Glory if they applied before Nov 30? Is it rolling? @MYOS1634. I’ll just keep checking daily.
@carmen00 , Wow! Awesome stats. I’m a PSU fan all the way…but would still advocate getting your bachelor’s day in the most debt-free manner possible. Everyone has a bachelor’s degree, so if you really want to stand out in your career, you will probably need some form of grad school. Going into debt for grad school makes more sense than doing it at the undergrad level. Temple offers a very respectable education. Just my two cents.
