Accepted 1/19/2018 for PSU University Park Fall - Major: Immunology and Infection diseases. SAT: 1210 (NEW) GPA: 3.993 At Junior Year. 2 AP 4 Honors No Extracurriculars

Ahhhh I’m still “under review”. The outcome is not looking good haha…

Does anyone know when do they sent financial aid and or scholarships out!

3CollegeMom Congrats to your daughter! I meant to say that we hadn’t seen any posts regarding Smeal on this string of communication (unless yours was missed from December). Your are the earliest I heard so far for Smeal. The few who have posted have heard in the past few days only. Lots of anxious people waiting!

@BreakfastClub1 I was only posting to provide information…I found it very helpful to look through previous threads to see when acceptances rolled out. It is a very stressful time for these kids (and parents!) My D has applied to 7 schools but has only heard back from PSU so far, so she has a long way to go. But she is very excited about Smeal! Lots of luck to all of the students.

Finally under review!

Please chance me. I don’t know why it has not even changed to in review yet. Have any other international students been notified?

Have they been releasing decisions on weekends? Also are they starting to update the portal multiple times a day rather than just at midnight? Thanks!

Most of the acceptances on here are from high SAT so I was worrying whether I would be accepted.

I thought PSU says GPA is 2/3 of the decision? Why mostly high SAT acceptances so far?

^^I wonder if he holdup is related to SRAR , and so very high test scores are getting through the process but everyone else is still on hold? I must say that even by PSU standards, this is super slow. Either there’s an avalanche of offers coming next week, or the deadline is going to be extended. But SRSR is new, and new things are my prime suspect.

Really starting to worry. Two of my friends from my school were accepted on Thursday but I haven’t heard anything back yet. Still under review. I’ve only seen like two nursing acceptances so far on this forum.

@NE_Pats12 PLENTY of kids get accepted right up until the 31st (and after for those that applied after priority!). Don’t worry that you haven’t heard yet. It means nothing as to whether you will, or won’t, get in. Hang tight!

@NursingMan Keep in mind that this forum is a very teeny tiny subset of actual penn state applications and acceptances. There definitely seems to be a slow down from previous years however the application process is different this year as well. The SRAR was hopefully going to speed things up, but maybe that won’t occur until subsequent years when the wrinkles are worked out. Regardless, I know it’s hard to worry, but at this point, you are very close to a decision so hang in there!

What part of next week do you think the so called “avalanche” of decisions will come out?

@NursingMan - my son was accepted to nursing two weeks ago. 1350 SATs, top 10% of class, a lot of extra murals, three sport varsity athlete.

My son applied by Nov 15 it was the first application he sent in. Unfortunately it was also the first essay he wrote and reused to have his education consultant look at it so he did it completely on his own, before he knew how to really put the personal essays together. He applied as a biology major and according to him, he still says that it says under review. But he refuses to show us the portal so we also are wondering if perhaps he was denied and just does not want to tell us.

For Fall 2018 @blueandwhite18

The essay is really not important in PSU admissions, so I wouldn’t get too hostile about it. It is more likely that he is telling you the truth, than not.

If it’s of any interest, our daughter applied 2 weeks prior to November 15th as a biology major and we too have not heard.
