PSU or UVA?

I was waitlisted at UVA and just got in today. I was planning on going to the Penn State Honors College, but now this has made me much less sure. I was SO excited about Penn State, but now UVA has changed everything and now I'm just as excited, if not more.

Still haven't received fin aid package from UVA, but any suggestions on which would be the better option? Or any personal experience with either would be helpful...

Thanks :)

I know several people who chose UVA over PSU Honors and don’t know any the other way around. UVA overall has a stronger student body - PSU Honors is very strong but there is a really wide range beyond that. Weather/campus are also UVA strengths.

However you didn’t mention what you want to major in. PSU has some majors that UVA doesn’t so that could change my answer!

Congrats on getting in off the waitlist out-of-state!

I want to major in English, which I can basically study anywhere haha.

And thanks!

i know plenty of people from my hs (but it’s in PA) that chose schreyers over uva for financial reasons, but they’re loving it there. as an oos student at both schools i’m not sure which one you would like more.

go wherever is less of a financial strain…if you are excited about going to PSU and it’s a better deal, go. Honors college award shows they really want you.

UVA, hands down

I would personally choose PSU for the nuclear engineering program, but it doesnt really make a difference if you are an English major

English is one of UVA’s strongest programs. As long as there is not a big financial difference, I would definitely pick UVA if you are an English major. Also, nationally UVA has a stronger reputation than Penn State does, but that isn’t my main reason for the rec- the English dept is :)

Of course UVA. There isn’t even a contest.
