I just wanted to know what you guys thing my chances are to the following schools. My preference in order would be:

Penn State University Park

University of Florida

University of Pittsburgh

University of Tennessee

I'm going to be a senior this school year in Pennsylvania. I have an unweighted GPA of 3.45. I have taken all the Honors courses my school offers and also will have 9 college credits completed by the end of the year.

Best SAT:

Reading- 590
Math- 660
Writing- 640
Total- 1890
Superscore- 1940 (690 in W)

I have a lot of extra curriculars ranging from sports to a variety of clubs and about 20 hours of community service.

A couple notes:

-At PSU, I am applying for the summer program and have a sister graduated from there
-I know Florida will be a reach I'm just wondering if I should even bother applying

Let me know if I need more info. Thanks!

The only one I can chance is UF because I’m very well informed about that school. Being out of state, I am forced to give you bad news. UF has wanted in-state scholars to attend their school. It has, now, become one of the better colleges in the nation and the best school in florida. However, there is STILL a chance. Write an OUTSTANDING essay. Hopefully, you have fantastic recs. Retake the SAT and your chances increse a lot. YOU DEFINITELY HVE A CHANCE!!! DON’T GIVE UP!!!

Your SATs look good, but Penn State doesn’t superscore. What is your weighted GPA and class rank? Have you looked at the bubble chart? I don’t know if I can link, so google Penn State bubble chart and see where you fall.

My school doesn’t do a weighted GPA. My class rank is top 20% however the no weighted system makes all the kids who take blow off classes have better GPA’s than me. For example, our major sciences (Bio, Chem, Physics, AP Chem and AP Physics) are also are hardest. I will have taken all but AP Physics. Others take say Earth and Space, Environmental, and Geology. Anybody with half a brain can get A’s in there. So an A in Space Science is the same as an A in AP Chem…? There are similar scenarios with English and Math also.

Basically, our class ranks are a little eschew.

That’s too bad. I think you have a good chance, though.
