I don’t want o be the bearer of bad news but PSU admissions seem to follow a pattern, and for many it could be a long wait. Even though they claim to have rolling admissions, it’s not exactly rolling. Usually, the top say 20% of applicants with high ACT/SAT scores and high GPA’s get admitted in November. If I remember correctly from the last 2 years, the bottom 20% get either rejected or sent to a branch next-say around late November-December. The middle 60% of applicants are put in a “decide later” pile so to speak. In January, those applicants are looked at again, and through many factors including: scores and grades compared to other applicants, in/out of state, legacy, particular college to which applicants applied, minority staus, and Many other factors-that middle 60% either gets accepted(mid January) or sent to branch, and finally in late January accepted for summer. My D1 applied September 1 of 2010 for fall 2011, she had good stats but not super high, 27 ACT and 3.8, from Ohio competitive private hs, Legacy, applied to college of Health and Human Development, white,-she was accepted to Fall 2011 on January 21, 2011. Those scores may not have been high enough for some colleges within Penn State, and some years they may not have been high enough for main campus. The truth is there are always people who’s stats seem good enough, but they don’t get accepted and others who seem shocked that they were admitted. Good luck to all, please don’t think you don’t have a chance if you don’t hear back before the holidays- there is still hope!

Oh jeez hahah I’m definitely not in the top 20% which is why I’m super nervous about getting accepted into the college of engineering

Nervousgal123- just looked at your previous threads and I think you will be fine! Your GPA and SAT look good enough for University Park-I think your chances for Fall admittance are good. I do think you, like my D2 who has similar stats, might not find out right away-and I now it is hard to be patient, but hang in there! Good luck!

Ok thank you! I guess I’ll just suck it up and wait!
