PSU (University Park) Class of 2019 Decision Thread

Still waiting… since September

me too… since mid October

@mcfet1991 you’re not alone!!

Daughter was accepted to Pitt, so at least we know she is going somewhere, but her first choice is definitely Penn State UP. This process sure has been frustrating!

Based on the last two years it looks like there was a flurry of activity starting the Thursday prior to MLK weekend. Then another big push of activity at the end of the month. So if that holds true this year, we should start seeing a lot of decisions coming in at the end of this week.

Good luck everyone! The 4+ month wait for us is almost over…

We’re still waiting too! Since early November.

Does anyone have a copy of the most recent bubble chart?

@Tooth1010:

I haven’t been able to find a bubble chart for 2014, but here is a link to their latest stats: http://admissions.psu.edu/apply/statistics/.

So let’s say if we get the decision from them. Do we get it in the mail first or from the online mypennstate profile first.
Also, I haven’t heard anyone that got denied. So do they send out denial letters last… cuz if soo…

@C1TonDoe‌ if you look in like the middle section of this thread , some people have mentioned classmates that have been denied. Also you’ll know first through the my penn state portal about your decision

@C1TonDoe You will first see a “coming days” status on the portal…at that point you can expect to hear a decision within 1-3 days. They will post the decision on your portal and then send a package in the mail. Some people receive the package the same day it posts on the portal. Some it takes a little longer.

Is anyone’s mypennstate portal down for maintenance?

@dipper1234 Ours was earlier today but it’s up now. No new status though…

Yes, the site was down this morning; also no change in status for us. There have been several mornings around the same time that it is unavailable due to maintenance. I called PSU Admissions a couple of days ago, and she told me that the updates are available daily by 8am. she did not mention any afternoon updates, even though I know several posters have said their status was changed in the afternoon. Meanwhile, my son asked his g.c. if it was unusual to wait this long to hear from PSU, and although she didn’t give him a real answer, she did confirm that as far as she is aware there are dozens of applicants from our hs who have not heard in 3 months. I’m betting on this Friday for a fresh wave that will extend into next week.

Waiting sort-of-patiently for news on my second son’s admission.

I checked the dates, and our oldest got his admission on 1/16/14. Hard to remember exactly, but I think his status changed to Coming Days before dinner, and then a short while later to Accepted. All on the same day, and after school, though.

Fingers crossed!

Our son is currently a sophomore at UP and his application was in by early October and he heard mid December. When his status changed to “you will get a decision in the coming days” he actually got the letter in the mail before his status online. My niece graduated from PSU in 2012 and she said mid to late January is the norm.
Good Luck to all WE ARE

It’s funny how my friend who applied after the priority deadline received his acceptance already, and here I am looking at my status saying they are still reviewing…

I applied tot University Park at the end of Octoboer. I struggled in a few classes which brought my average down a little. Do you guys think I have any chance? Or is UP a high reach for me?

GPA: 3.2 weighted (8 APs and 4 honors including this year)
SAT: 1850 (630 on math, 590 on reading, 630 on writing)
ACT: 27
Good essay and a handful of ECs.
An admissions counselor came to our school earlier this year and told me I have a decent shot but I’m worrying now because it’s taking long and everyone else being accepted has a way higher gpa. Any help?
