Would I be able to take Psych 2 as a freshman? I know that the catalog says it's for junior and senior nonmajors, but my CalSo counselor advised one of the girls in my group to take it. I'm wondering if I'm able to take it or is he just wack?

Does anyone know?

I'm a freshmen and I am taking it. I HATE THIS CLASS. I HATE PSYCHOLOGY. THE BOOK IS SO DAMN LONG!

It's not for juniors and seniors as it is a lower-division class (and an intro one, at that), so I would confirm that yes, you can take it as a freshman.

yes, im a freshman taking it right now - just add yourself to the waitlist and you MIGHT be added after they enroll all the upperclassmen. take it with gillette, he is pretty laidback. and yea the book is freakin huge, but no worries - the class is pretty easy IMO

Of the two psych 2 classes offered in the spring, only one has a listed instructor, Gade. I don't see Gillette as the instructor for the second lecture. Anyway, Gade has some rad reviews on ratemyprofessor.com, should I take his lecture?

How much reading is involved? I'm generally okay with the reading, it's the writing that annoys me.

writing = zilch

Im not sure if the course is taught differently by each professor, but the class is made up of 2 midterms and final (all multi choice) - no homework - RPP experiments (basically you get to be a Berkeley lab rat for the psych department, they are really fun actually, you sit in front of a computer screen, stuff pops up, and they test your accuracy and reaction time, if you play video games its a walk in the park) AND there is extra credit

if gade looks to be good, i'd say take it - its my favorite class this semester

oh yea reading, like i said, the book is huge, but i might have been over-exaggerating. Half the book is actually text (and pictures....a lot of pictures) and the other half is filled with practice chapter quizzes and concept maps, both of which are extremely helpful. Since the midterms are not cumulative, i can read the 5 chapters being tested on in one day - scratch that - half a day. dont worry about the reading at all

Is the class curved?

nope, straight scale...
